The good news is it is 7:30 p.m and Kean is finally asleep.
The bad news is we have to wake him up to take his oral meds and a shot at 9.
Ug.
Today Kean seemed much better and he looked markedly better.
He even played with his new steering wheel toy (thanks Borups)...
something he wouldn't touch much yesterday.
Things were pretty quiet today. We did have a couple of visitors...
namely, Stephanie, the music therapist.
I swear, combine music with Morphine and Kean was quite happy--
for a little while. My friends Erik and Kara also stopped by to say goodbye.
They are moving to Chattanooga next week.
And Elly, one of my best friends in the whole world came bearing chicken enchiladas, rice and beans.
Finally, we found something Kean would actually eat.
Perhaps he is just tired of hospital food?
So now for the housekeeping items: Kean's counts are still really, really low.
Not so low he needs a blood transfusion but Dr. Chang said he is so dangerously low
that these little Down's kids, when they pick up any bug during this phase it can put
them in a deadly position. So, to quote Dr. Chang we will "be parking here for a while".
I have no idea what a little while means in this place.
So I'm just trying to go with the flow.
We did a better job of staying on top of his pain today and they gave him a medicine that
coated his mouth and throat. I think both combined made a big difference.
He is still fighting taking any thing that resembles a decent nap in here
but today wasn't like yesterday. And I don't even know if words exist to describe
how terrible yesterday was.
So with this progress, we have much to be thankful for.
