Neighbors

Let's talk crazy, cool coincidences.
Guess whose office is right across the street from
where Kean goes to therapy school every Monday morning?
Motorcycle Jeff and Motorcycle Bill's office!
Their architectural firm is literally right, smack dab across the street!
Can we say meant to be friends?
Anyway, today, after therapy, I took Kean (and some treats)
over to their office to say hello and meet the women behind the helmet.
On the far left is Lisa.  It was her husband who designed
the skulls, the flames and the eight ball for Kean's helmet.
Ashlund (on the far right) was her partner in crime.
Of course, that's Motorcycle Jeff holding the boy.
And Shannon is in the green.
Unfortunately, Motorcycle Bill got called out of the office for a meeting.
Guess we'll have to go back again.
p.s.  Kean finally said the word "Jeff".
Now onto "Bill".
p.p.s.  Kean asked for a motorcycle ride about
20 times while we were there.  Crazy kid.

Horsin' Around

Well we've talked all about Kean's obsession with the movie Cars-- probably ad nausea.
In fact, the other night, Byron was up checking on our ancient dog, Zoe when he
caught a whiff coming out of Kean's bedroom-- and trust me it wasn't cologne.
This is my favorite part of the story-- Byron changed Kean's stinky diaper.
But here's what will likely be your favorite part of the story--
Kean was really out of it, you know, with his eyes practically rolled back into his head.
After all, it was past 3 in the morning.
When Byron was nearly done with the dirty deed, Kean cracked open his eyes,
made the sign for motorcycles and whispered "Dad... cycle ride?"
Gotta love that freakishly obsessed kid!
Coming in second, would be his fixation with horses.
During therapy last week, we were having him do a dog puzzle
and didn't have the heart to correct him each time he called a pup a horse.
For today's horse therapy, he was happy to be outside.
But lately, right in the middle of riding he will try to ditch off.
Good thing we are ready and waiting!

Playing Favorites

In the throes of homework, school science projects and Holland running for 7th grade Veep...
so something has to give.
And that will be this blog.
Instead of another tour of Fiji's lush landscape and our trip,
you get the story of Kean's reaction when we got home.
He was all smiles and hugs for me until he saw his Pops--
then he wanted  nothing and no one but Daddy and a motorcycle ride.
It is as if he was trying to tell us that Grandpa's lawn mower
just didn't cut it.
And yes, Poppa Bear gave in and gave him plenty of rides.
Listen closely to this little ditty.
He has some new language for motorcycle...
something sqwhy-kul.

By the way, Boy Wonder is doing great today.  He hasn't thrown up since
yesterday in the hospital.  He didn't seem too uncomfortable today and he's eating
like a horse.
Of course, that could be attributed to the fact he's back on Steroids.
We should be getting a visit any day from his "evil twin".
Gotta love those 'roid side effects.

Beach Bums

Kean has gotta love Sundays.
Today was a "three motorcycle ride" kind of day.
A nice ending to a crazy week.
Last night, Byron took the girls up the road to a spot on the Payette river
where there is a great little beach...
and the perfect sized diving rocks.
This little get a way was really a reward for Greer serving as
nursemaid for all of us when we were sick with the flu.
They say it is one of their new favorite places.
p.s.  Kean and I stayed home and watched.... Cars.
Shocking, I know.

Bookends

The boy woke up this morning and went to bed tonight-- g.r.o.u.c.h.y.
Can't say I blame him.
If I had that much Chemo pushed into my body I'd be a terror.
Kean was supposed to have two therapy sessions today.
Poor Andrea... Kean was most uncooperative today.
We opted to postpone Maureen's session until next week.
The only thing that made him happy tonight
was yep, you guessed it... a motorcycle ride with
Pops-- (and a hello from Grandpa Bodily).

Modern Day Pony Express

Thank heavens for the Internet.
We got word.. well proof that at least two of our three girls are alive and well.
Camp Rainbow Gold posted a bunch of pictures on their face book page.
That's Reese second from the left -- with the rest of the kids from her cabin.
And yes, that gadfly is Greer.
She looks like she is totally in her element.
Today's agenda called for a hike, ice skating and a big dance tonight.
Party Central!
Kean's been partly grouchy for the day.
Please notice his hearing aid.
We're slowly making progress.
Today, especially during "speech time".
We're really working on the word "motorcycle"
(probably the most important word in the entire vocabulary-- according to him).
He got so caught up in playing with his motorcycle...
that he forgot to yank out his hearing aid for a while.
Like I said, progress.
We got a good laugh tonight.
After dinner, he was whining and acting like he was miserable
until Byron asked if he wanted to go for a motorcycle ride.
I tell ya, you've never seen such a miraculous healing!
