Vampire Draws

Phew.
Today is behind us.
I have to admit, I was a bit anxious about today--
Kean's first day getting blood draws from his arm
(now that his port is gone).
We numbed up both arms (since Down's kids
are notoriously hard to get blood ) and get this-
it couldn't have gone any better.
We were surrounded by nurses we know really
well (after 3 1/2 years) and they had found a fabulous
big picture book about one of his favorites: "Cars"-
so we had the bases covered.
Miraculously, they got a good vein, got blood
and had his samples taken-- in and out in about a minute or two.
My dear friend Pam Brown went with us
to help out, hold the boy...
 and keep us both company.
We had a great visit with our favorite doctor, Dr. Meeker.
And he was quite excited to show us Kean's results-- the
entire computer screen only had one line of yellow on it.
That means, all his counts are in the normal range- except for one.
He may be barely in the normal range-- but hey, we will gladly take it.
He's exactly where we want him to be- making progress!
Oh, and no fever tonight.
Let's hope last night's fever was a fluke.
