Looks like a fun afternoon of carving. We have pumpkins this year, but didn't get to carving them. The days move too quickly sometimes. We are eating them instead.
AKA: Mister Miracle, Keanut and Boy Wonder! And in case you have been living under a rock and don't know his "back story"-- he's made quite a splash getting here! In May of 2009, at 24 weeks his mom went into the hospital with some pretty major pregnancy complications. I (mom) lost all of my amniotic fluid and my placenta ripped. After 11 weeks of grueling and extremely monotonous hospital bed rest-- and COUNTLESS MIRACLES-- Kean came into this world kicking and screaming (sweet sounds for a boy who was expected to have lung issues). We were surprised with the news he has Down syndrome but quickly realized we hit the jackpot with this one and his sweet spirit. After 6 1/2 weeks in intensive care (and lots of scary moments) we thought we were through with the lengthy hospital stays. But no... in July 2012 (a month before he turned 3), Kean was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L). Back to the hospital for another four weeks of sheer terror. Once again, were surrounded with love, support and strength and we've seen our little guy emerge as a giant-- brave, strong and inspiring. He (and we) somehow survived 1,157 days of Chemotherapy (nope, that wasn't a typo). It has been the most brutal, agonizing experience but it has also been tender and beautiful in so many ways. If you have met Kean, you will agree-- he is the sweetest little guy who has a pretty important mission to fulfill on this earth. We can't wait to see what he accomplishes in his life!
Holland: Hottie (Kean's nickname for her)
Age 15 - Growing up so fast. A Sophomore at a specialized medical high school. She is a smarty pants, beautiful and athletic. Holland has handled this journey with grace, maturity and a huge heart. She adores her little brother and he- her (even though she calls him "Varkin"-- Dutch for piggy). She is smart, funny, talented and a natural at nearly everything.
You can call me Greer or GiGi
Age 13 - Loves everyone, especially her baby brother and all things musical. This girl sings from the minute she wakes up. Watch for her on Broadway. She's attending a special fine arts school. Puts the K in kindness. Gives anything to her siblings to make them happy.
Reese's Pieces, The Boss, Princess Everlove
Age 10- Doesn't know the difference between mothering her little brother and smothering her little brother. We tell her regularly she is small but mighty. Ran out of gas with this one. She's tiny but makes up for it in personality and spunk. She's a thinker, a Lego master and a mini Byron.
Me and My Honey
We've been married 18 years (my, oh my) and I still think he's a hunk. Byron- better known as MacGyver can do anything and everything. And if he can't, he'll figure it out! As for me, I was promised Kean would survive his epic battle with the evil "C"-- and that thousands would fall to their knees in prayer on his behalf. We've seen that all come true and can't thank you enough for your love, prayers and support.

Has anyone pointed out the resemblance between the carved pumpkin and Holland? It's a little eerie...
