Kean had his big Neurology appointment today,
ya know, the one with the new doctor who was described to us
as the 'arrogant butthead'!
Actually, he was just fine. No complaints from me.
You can tell he's heavy on the smarts and a little less so on the personality... but he was fine.
So here's the scoop:
Kean is at a higher risk for seizures because
a. he has Down's.
b. he has cancer
c. he's on a boatload of drugs that can trigger seizures.
The doc thinks he has most likely had four seizures and we just happened to witness
the aftermath.
He was very open to my theory about it being a seizure induced
by a severe Hypoglycemic episode brought on by one of his Chemo drugs.
If you even followed that....
Anyway, the doc set us up with a Glucose blood monitoring machine
(the kind that Diabetics use).
Nurse Carla came in to train me on how to lance his finger, put the blood
on a little test strip and put it in the machine.
The nurse is the one who pricked her finger to show me how it works...
that's probably why Kean has such a broad smile and she has a pasted on one.
What a trooper.
We're ready if he has another seizure.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Kean has an EEG scheduled.
Get this... we have to keep him up two hours late Thursday night.
Wake him up two hours early Friday morning.
Make sure he has a full tummy and does not fall asleep

The theory is he will be nice and mellow for the test.
Yeah, right.
He'll likely be a raving mad man.
Anyone crazy enough to want to come along?
I'm thinking it will be a lot like herding a wild alley cat.
