The Most Thrilling Gift

You won't believe what came in the mail today...

 one thing that absolutely made this boy smile.

 No, make that giggle...

and try and kiss the gift.

 An autographed photo from none other than THE CURIOUS GEORGE!

Actually, it is signed by Frank Welker himself,

the guy who has voiced countless movie and cartoon characters--

but most importantly (to Kean anyway) Curious George.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Leslie Lamers!

You have made one little boy incredibly happy

(and one mom incredibly touched)!

The Perfect Gift

Christmas came early for the Barker boy.

My sweet friend, Heather Davis (who has one of the 

biggest hearts in Idaho) and her children came over with

a big surprise for Kean.

 It took all of us the better part of an hour to put it together--

and I mean all of us!

 When it was done, there was one very giggly little boy.

It is a motorcycle that is just his size.

It is battery powered and goes about one mile per hour.

Thank you Davis family for solving our winter crises.

Kean can now take motorcycle rides in the house

to his hearts content!!!!

I just might be more excited (and relieved) than he is.

As of tonight, this winter sure got a whole lot shorter.

The Survivor

I have new faith in the future of our youth.

Last night, this handsome guy, Alex Hill came by with his father,

(the Bishop of our church congregation).

 Alex made Kean a "survivor's" bracelet--

the orange cancer ribbon- to represent Leukemia and grey to represent him being a fighter.

 And he wrote the sweetest note about Kean "inspiring him

to get through trials in life".

He did this all on his own-- he wasn't assigned or asked --

it was all his idea.

I'm so impressed with this 13 year-old.

 I can't say Kean was very inspiring today when we took him to get his hair cut.

He has a photo shoot coming up next week for a hospital project

and my friend, Tammy agreed to try and fix my butchered haircuts.

 It took every bit of muscles Holland and I have to hold him somewhat still.

And he still cried and screamed and grunted and growled.

I swear, it was more traumatic for him than getting Chemo!

Luckily, Motorcycle Jeff came and made it all better...

with a much beloved ride on the Harley.

Mother's Day

I looovvee Mother's Day. Do you want to know why? I absolutely adore all those homemade gifts the kids make. I tell ya, there's nothing better. Take this little goodie from Greer: She made a book at school- here are a few highlights:

Classic! And here are just a few of my Mother's Day treasures. GiGi made me the bookmark out of clay and the hot pink fan for hot flashes. Holland made the heart pin (which I proudly wore to church yesterday)!

We had dinner with my favorite mom of all-- my mom. It was a lovely, lovely day. Happy belated Mother's Day to all the moms out there. Actually, Happy Mother's Day to all the women out there-- I have several friends who are not moms per se... but they are still great role models to me and my girls.
